March 2015

Saarland – Land of Chocolate

Relying on a continued success of the company, the new building – a hall of 126 m length, 30 m width and 9 m height – was constructed in a modular design to assure that further expansions would also be possible in the future, as was said in Saarlouis. The production in the new hall had already been started in November 2014.
`The erection of this further production facility in Saarwellingen is the best proof that the industrial location Saarland is a highly interesting place to be. Companies such as Ludwig Schokolade that invest in Saarland make a significant contribution to ensuring the competitiveness and sustainable development of our region`, the Minister said during the opening.

Good news

Furthermore, there is another important aspect: `In the wake of the capacity expansion, Ludwig Schokolade will create new jobs. It is expected that additional staff of up to 60 people will be needed for the new facilities`, as plant manager Bruno Proietti stressed at the opening.
The new production hall with a usable space of about 4,000 square meters is equipped with the latest production and packing installations mainly serving to increase capacities for the production of Schogetten. For, according to company officials, the main plant in Saarlouis is presently utilized to its full extent for the production of Schogetten. This is not surprising as this classic of Ludwig Schokolade has been more intensively promoted in the last few months. At the same time, recipes were refined and new varieties brought to market.
