Minister Bouillon transfers sites for the first CISPA expansion to Strukturholding Saar

On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, the Minister of Construction Klaus Bouillon signed a contract by which the state of Saarland transfers sites for the first expansion step of CISPA – Helmholtz Zentrum für IT-Sicherheit to SHS Strukturholding Saar.

SHS will construct a first extension building for CISPA on these sites along the Stuhlsatzenhausweg between the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and the already existing CISPA building. A legally binding development plan has already been submitted. `With this further milestone, the ground has been prepared for the first new building of the CISPA Helmholtz Center‘, explained the Minister of Construction Klaus Bouillon.

The CISPA Helmholtz Center shall be gradually expanded to become the world’s largest research center for IT security.

In their meetings before the summer break, the Council of Ministers and the State Parliament had agreed to the transfer of the sites for the construction of the new building for the CISPA Helmholtz Center to SHS. At the instigation of the state, the state capital Saarbrücken is drawing up a development plan for the area north of Stuhlsatzenhausweg. This is intended to create building rights for the further planned extensions of CISPA.
